How we work

GGF partners with Tanzanian firms, investors, associations, Government and development partners to unlock opportunities, strengthen the business environment and catalyse system change.

We take a market systems development approach, working through Tanzanian stakeholders to strengthen markets and drive sustainable, inclusive growth. GGF is not a grant facility and does not directly implement projects.

GGF works at a national level to:

  • Review and reform policies and regulations

  • Improve coordination across agencies, investors and development partners

  • Strengthen systems and build institutional and individual capacities.

With private sector partners, GGF provides technical support, advisory services and matchmaking to:

  • Pilot innovations in the Tanzanian market;

  • Strengthen products, services, and business operations so firms can scale and attract investment;

  • Link businesses to potential investors; and

  • Expand access to finance through new investment products.

GGF is guided by a three-pillar gender strategy, designed to identify opportunities for impact, design targeted interventions, and mainstream gender across operations. Our approach is aligned with  the 2X Criteria, the internationally-recognised standard for gender lens investing.
